Had dinner the other night with an interesting fellow. He’s starting a new construction and design business, right in the middle of a recession.

The business is both a home building and renovation company specializing in the use of home wellness products. From earth-safe building materials to vitamin infused showerheads, these products are becoming more and more of a reality. Today, most of them are significantly more expensive, but, as more are manufactured, the products will come down in price and become accessible to many more people.

He’s not crazy. He’s an entrepreneur

The world is changing, and changing more quickly than we sometimes realize. Just as the world of communications has changed radically in the last century, wellness products are quickly emerging in the national consciousness.

The last century could be capsulized as the century of Communication. One hundred years ago we had the newspaper, telegraph and the telephone. Then came television, fax machines, computers, mobile phones, smartphones, the iPad and its competitors, the meteoric rise of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and, of course, the blog.

Today the world of energy is in a period of historic change. Both through necessity and innovation, new energy sources, smarter energy and wellness products are coming to market daily.  The next century will be the century of Energy: a watershed of change for the energy and energy products industry and a change in national and world-consciousness about energy.

As the country, and the world, rethink our economic strategies for the short and long term, the entrepreneur will, as he or she always done, lead the way out on recession with invention and sweat-equity, that personal drive and confidence that has always moved us forward as a nation.

This blog, a concept that simply didn’t exist just a decade or so ago, is our way of giving our representatives, and anyone else interested in our nation’s energy future, a place to deposit the little tidbits and snippets that we come upon to help you in your entrepreneurial endeavors, but, even more, to help you continue to see the bigger picture. Not just the picture of energy, but also a picture of how we, as a country, as a civilization, create products and companies that do good.

It’s our Mission to enrich the lives of individuals and organizations through affordable, renewable energy, worldwide philanthropic giving and empowering personal financial success. We’re glad to have you be part of it.
