More than 6,000 Connecticut residents battle the unpredictable and potentially debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis, a disease for which there is no cure. The National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, depends on people and organizations from throughout Connecticut to help make a difference for families affected by MS.

In 2011 North American Power teamed up with the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, to become presenting sponsor and the power for change for the chapter’s biggest event, Walk MS. This time of year has traditionally been known as the season of giving – where you’ll find food banks flooded with volunteers, soup kitchens serving hundreds of thousands of individuals in need, and bells of the Salvation Army can be heard ringing outside the local grocery store; it is truly a magical time of year when you think about everyone coming together to give back to their communities.  It is unfortunate, however, that during the holidays many struggle to make ends meet and put food on the table.  Recognizing that there is still so much work to be done to ensure that this time of year can be joyful for all, we have put together some ways that you can give back by simply being more socially aware when preparing for the holidays.

My goal in business has always been to Start Something Special. I have never believed in creating a business solely for financial gain, solely to be part of the next big thing…I have always wanted to create something that will have a lasting effect on people’s lives.

One of my greatest inspirations in this space is TOMS Shoes, a company that has defined success differently.  Sell one pair of shoes, give one pair of shoes – success for the company and success for a child in need. … Continue reading
